Mountain Mahjong is a Taiwanese Mahjong Club.  Colleen Cummings was taught by a Taiwanese friend who wanted to share her love of the game.  The friend moved away and her original group of 4 players dwindled down to 2, so she started teaching classes in order to cultivate people to play with!  After teaching a couple of university community education classes, along with a few small private groups, she realized that they needed to form a group that would play on a regular basis so that they new players could keep learning and she and her friend could keep playing!  Soon, a local bookstore, Folklore Bookshop, reached out and asked if she wanted to teach classes at their store.  It has been a beautiful partnership, bringing people into their bookstore and selling out a monthly mahjong class. As a result, Colleen has taught over 100 people the game of Taiwanese Mahjong to date, and 50 of those students have joined to make the Mountain Mahjong community group. Mountain Mahjong meets twice a month.  It is a free group, where people of all playing levels interact, get to know each other, and even expand their friendships with activities outside of the group!
